Chief Election Commissioner should take notice of the matter, said Shahram Tarakai

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – KP Health Minister Shahram Tarakai said on Tuesday that workers of Awami National Party (ANP) openly rigged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) local body elections. He urged Chief Election Commissioner to take notice of the rigging, reported Dunya News.

Talking to a press conference, Shahram Tarakai said that if KP government was involved in rigging in elections then Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf and Awami Jamhoori Ittehad would have won with clear majority in Swabi.

Provincial Health Minister said that government’s job is to legislate not police the masses adding that the job of arranging free and fair elections lies with the Election Commission.

He emphasized that KP government would not indulge in rigging as it had given sit-in outside Parliament House in Islamabad for the very same reason.

He alleged that ANP had stolen people’s mandate in addition to not allowing women to vote in the local body elections.

Shahram Tarakai demanded for a re-election in the province.

The provincial minister also displayed electoral stamps and ballot papers at the occasion adding that he has spoken up on demand from the masses.

He said that Chief Election Commissioner should take notice of the matter.
