KP local body election worst display of mismanagement: FAFEN
Peshawar, Bannu were most violent; Haripur topped the list of people influencing polling stations
PESHAWAR: (Dunya News) – Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) has on Sunday said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) local body elections were the worst display of mismanagement. It said that Peshawar and Bannu remained the most violent while polling stations were influenced the most in Haripur, reported Dunya News.
In a report issued by FAFEN, the election campaign remained peaceful by and large but polling day was extremely violent and mismanaged. It said that the voting process was extremely slow while women were barred at many places from voting.
Report says that 81 cases of violence were reported from 18 districts of the province while Peshawar and Bannu were the most violent districts. Swabi remained 3rd while Dera Ismail Khan and Nowshehra remained 4th most violent districts during the election.
FAFEN report stated that polling stations were attacked by candidates and their supporters. Worst cases of candidates influencing the polling stations were reported from Haripur.
Violations of Election Commission’s code of conduct were also reported. Election camps were also set up within 200-meter radius of the polling stations which is not allowed according to the rules.
