BB murder case: Mark Siegel's statement to be recorded via video link

Court has directed Commissioner Rawalpindi and Pakistan's embassy in US to facilitate the witness.

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has decided to record American journalist Mark Siegel s statement through video link in the murder case of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, Dunya News reported.

The court has directed Rawalpindi Commissioner and Pakistani embassy in US to finalise all the arrangements in this regard. 

The case hearing has been adjourned till Tuesday.

Siegel, a key prosecution witness, was summoned by an anti-terrorism court to record statement in the high-profile assassination case but he refused to visit Pakistan due to security concerns.

In a chargesheet present to the court, investigators had included ex-military ruler Pervez Musharraf in the list of main accused who conspired to assassinate former Prime Minister 

 

54-year-old Bhutto was assassinated in a suicide attack outside Rawalpindi on December 27, 2007, after she addressed an election campaign rally.
