PML-N gets landslide victory in Cantt LB-Polls, PTI follows

For this purpose, at least 12,400 army personnel have been deployed.

(Web desk) – The polling for local body election in as many as 42 Cantonment Boards in the country has been completed across Pakistan today (Saturday) and now the votes have been counted. PML-N bagged most number of seats with 68 seats in cantonment board elections. PTI remained runner-up with 41 seats. MQM bagged 18 to stand third. PPP got 7, JI got 5 and ANP secured 2 seats. Independent candidates won 57 seats.

Dunya News once again was the first to update its viewers with the election results. Viewers throughout the country enjoyed Dunya News s coverage of the event. 

According to details, the boards have been divided into 199 wards and as many as 1151 candidates emerged for election. As many as eighteen lakh seventy six thousand voters will elect their representatives in landmark election.

The Karachi’s Cantonment Board has the most wards i.e. 32 whereas Lahore Cantt has 20. Rawalpindi, Chaklala, Wah Cantt, Sargodha and Hyderabad have ten wards each while Sialkot, Peshawar, Okara, Quetta and Abbottabad Cantts have five wards each.

The cantonments in Nowshera has four wards, Kohat, Rasalpur and Bahawalpur have three wards each while the remaining two cantonments have two wards each.

At least fourteen candidates have been elected unopposed thus far out of which Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have two each, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) one, and nine independent candidates.

At least 541 candidates belonging to as many as 18 parties will contest the cantt board elections. PTI has the most candidates i.e. 135, PML-N has 128 while PPP has 89 candidates.

MQM and PAT have 27 candidates each. The remaining 610 candidates are independent.

For this purpose, at least 12,400 army personnel have been deployed.
