Schools not enough for children of Lahore; 37% children of school going age out of schools

LAHORE (Dunya News) – 9 lac 57 thousand and 682 children of school going age are out of school in Lahore, says a report prepared by a private institute working for education. According to the report, despite all the claims of provincial government, there are not enough schools and teachers for the children of the provincial capital so 37% children are not going to schools.

Report states that there are 1216 government schools in Lahore city while the city needs 38 new schools. The report says that government of Punjab has improved the condition of existing schools but many schools of Lahore still lack basic necessities like clean water and boundary wall.

Talking about the situation, senior official of the Institute of Social and Public Science, Ahmed Ali said that their institute has forwarded the recommendations to the education department of Punjab after some detailed surveys and researches. He said that they hope their recommendations will help government to make effective policies in the field of education and every child of the city will be able to go to school.

Officials of the Schools department of Punjab said that they are working for the betterment of education sector and as a result, the condition of schools is much better now. They said that they consider all the recommendations by the people working in this field and they will be made the part of government policies if possible.
