Summary Anwar was taken into custody over terrorism charges

LONDON (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Mohammed Anwar arrested on suspicion of money laundering has been released on bail until mid-July, Dunya News reported.

London Metropolitan Police’s counter terrorism squad had earlier taken MQM leader into custody on money laundering charges. The police searched Anwar’s house for over thirteen hours and seized key documents, computer, mobile phones and passport.

Anwar had been transferred to the police station for investigation because “the links pointed towards Anwar”. MQM leader continues to face the charges and has only been released on bail.

Meanwhile, MQM has decided to send Barrister Farogh Nasim to London to offer legal support to the accused leader.

Five persons from MQM including its chief Altaf Hussain have previously been arrested on the same charge and were released on bail.
