Operation Zarb-e-Azb has broken the back of terrorists: PAF chief
Nefarious designs of terrorists have been thwarted due to joint efforts, the Air Chief Marshal said.
(Web Desk / Reuters) - Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman on Thursday said that ongoing anti-terrorism operation (Zarb-e-Azb) in North Waziristan tribal region has broken the back of terrorists, the Radio Pakistan reported.
Addressing a passing out parade at PAF Academy Risalpur, the Air Chief expressed determination to continue joint efforts till revival of complete peace in the country.
Pakistan Air force in coordination with Pakistan Army and Navy has thwarted the nefarious designs of terrorists, he added.
Sohail Aman said the PAF has been equipped with latest equipment to defend the aerial frontiers of the country.
He said Pakistan believes in the policy of peaceful coexistence. The country is faced with many internal and external challenges.
"Nobody can dare cast an evil eye on the motherland as we are capable to defend our territory", he added.
AIRSTRIKES IN KHYBER AGENCY
On Wednesday, Pakistani military jets killed 30 militants near the Afghan border on Wednesday. The airstrikes in the Khyber tribal region s Tirah Valley pounded several militant hide-outs, destroying two arms and ammunition depots as well.
The army said its operation killed 80 militants over the weekend. Seven Pakistani soldiers also died.
Pakistan has stepped up anti-militant efforts after the Taliban attacked a school in December in the northwestern city of Peshawar, killing 150 people — mostly children.
Outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been launching attacks for more than a decade in a bid to overthrow the government. Thousands of people have been killed in the attacks.
