20,000 TDP families returning homes in S. Waziristan in first phase

Temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) are returning their homes in different phases.

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN (Web Desk) - The return of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) to their homes in South Waziristan Agency will begin today (Monday).

In June 2009, South Waziristan residents left their homes when Pakistan Army launched operation Rah-e-Nijat against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and their extremist allies.

Now the temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) are returning their homes in different phases.

In the first phase, 20,000 thousand families of Tehsil Sararogha and Sarwakai will go back to their homes after biometric verification. Each family will get Rs10,000 cash, ATM card and six-month ration.

Education institutes in the areas will also reopen in the next three days.

The repatriation process will complete within 30 days.
