Faraz was not involved in any criminal case, says Haider Abbas Rizvi

KARACHI (Dunya News) – An alleged target killer Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker Faraz alias on Saturday has died in the police custody due to torture in Khokhrapar Police Station.

According to the details, Faraz was arrested earlier in a case of target killing. The investigation officer of the matter has been suspended by the government. MQM has announced a mourn-day on January 11 to demonstrate a protest against the incident. 

The shopkeepers in the market in Malir started shutting their shops down after learning the news about Faraz s death in police custody. The Sindh Traders Union has also announced to support MQM s mourn day. Moreover, an appeal has been made by the party to shut down the transport services and business activities in the city.

While MQM Haider Abbas Rizvi has said that Faraz was not involved in any criminal case and the police had asked him to give Rs 10 lac bribe. While talking to the media, he said that it has become a usual practice of the police to arrest MQM workers and shift them to unknown places. 

Two days earlier, the Khokhrapar Police have arrested Faraz in an alleged target killing case. Faraz died of torture today (January 10) in police custody. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Hospital.

The family of Faraz turned aggressive with the police in the hospital.
