Lahore: Unidentified men storm vigil held in memory of Salman Taseer

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A mob armed with sticks stormed the members of the civil society and journalists at the candle light vigil held in the memory of slain governor Punjab Salman Taseer at Liberty Chowk area, Dunya News reported.

Reportedly, no one was seriously hurt and the police controlled the situation after arriving at the scene. The vigil resumed again afterwards.

The mob comprising unidentified men who were carrying sticks and bricks stormed the vigil attendees including women, children and elders.

The media crew and equipment was also attacked.

The vigil was held to mark 4th death anniversary of former governor Punjab Salman Taseer who was killed by his own security guard after accusing him of blasphemy.

Taseer was vocal against abuse of country’s blasphemy laws.
