Alleged facilitator of Peshawar school attack killed in Khyber Agency

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Alleged mastermind of attacks on anti-polio teams has been killed by security forces during operation in Khyber tribal region on Thursday night, Dunya News reported.

Talking to media in Peshawar, political agent Shahab Ali Shah said the militant commander identified as Saddam belonged to Tariq Geedar Group of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Six of his other injured accomplices have also been arrested.

The political agent said that commander Saddam had possibly assisted terrorists involved in attack on Peshawar school on December 16, however, intelligence agencies are working on it to confirm authenticity of the report.

TTP commander was also involved in killing of 11 khasadar personnel who were escorting anti-polio teams during the campaign in tribal areas. He was also mastermind of attacks on polio teams and involved in various kidnapping cases.

Political agent Shahab Ali Shah said that Operation Khyber One would continue till elimination of all terrorists.

He said areas of Bara Tehsil are under the control of security forces now where development work has commenced under Governor’s Special Development Package.

Authorities will ensure return and rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) at earliest, he added.
