The Pakistani embassy accused the Abbasi family of destroying the soft image of Pakistan

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A 22-year-old resident of Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday was accused of taking an alleged rifle to Belgium and was declared an alleged Jewish terrorist in the country while he, being a cricket fan was taking along with him a bat hidden in a jersey.

According to details, Asim Abbasi’s picture was published in a newspaper as a Jewish terrorist and his bat was allegedly written to be a rifle in the paper.

Asim is a son of Tufail Abbasi who works at the Pakistani embassy in Belgium.

However, the Pakistani embassy instead of helping the misunderstood person, ordered the family to leave the country without any investigation.

Tufail Abbasi has also been suspended from his service.
The Pakistani embassy accused the family of destroying the soft image of Pakistan.

Reportedly, the passports of all seven members of the family have been demanded for verification by the authorities concerned in Belgium.

The Pakistani embassy has refused to comment on the situation until the filing of this report.

Reportedly, Asim contacted the Belgium Police and explained to them that he was carrying his bat in a jersey to keep it safe from the rain.

However, Asim has been freed of the allegations of being a Jewish terrorist.

The Belgium Police and the assembly members have condemned baseless allegations on the 22-year-old cricket fan.

The spokesperson of the Foreign Office (FO) Tasneem Aslam said that Tufail Abbasi was employed in the commercial section of the Pakistani embassy in Belgium.

She also said that Tufail’s posting tenure has been expired since March 2014 and he was supposed to come back to Pakistan by now.

Aslam said that another officer has already replaced Tufail’s post in the embassy so there is no question of suspension from the service.

She further told that earlier to this incident, Tufail Abbasi’s stay in Belgium was declared illegal due to his being there in violation of his job tenure.
