Hundreds of wells have dried up, leaving residents of the areas craving for potable water

THARPARKAR (Dunya News) – As many as 35 children in Jeetrar village of Tehsil Dhali have fallen prey to pneumonia while hundreds of villages of Chachro and Dhali do not have access to wheat that is sent as aid by the government.

According to the locals of the area, wheat which is being sent as aid is not reaching the deserving people because of the political influence and feudal lords in the area.

On the other hand, in Mubarak Rand area of famine-struck Chachro, there is no supply of potable water for more than five days.

Reportedly, all the schemes of the government regarding establishing filtration plants in the area have failed.

The affectees have accused the provincial government of giving the contract of Thar RO Plant to a local company whose only concern is looting as much money as it can.

Chairperson National Assembly’s Standing Committee on the Information and Broadcasting, Marvi Memon paid a visit to children suffering from malnutrition in Tehsil hospital Islam Kot and Nagarparkar Hospital.

Memon while talking to the famine-struck people said that problems have increased in Tharparkar due to which the people do not have facilities of health, potable water and food.

She further said that Sindh government is responsible for neglecting the issues of the people.
