Sloganeering in KPK Assembly, opposition walks out

Opposition leaders chanted 'Go Imran Go' whereas the government raised slogans against Nawaz Sharif

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Assembly once again witnessed ‘Go Nawaz Go’ and ‘Go Imran Go’ slogans when it opened on Monday after ten days with a delay of one and a half hour. Leaders of opposition parties refused to agree with the government and walked out of the assembly.

The opposition parties’ members chanted slogans against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)Chairman Imran Khan whereas the government raised those against Prime Minister (PM) of the country Nawaz Sharif. However, the opposition leaders demonstrated a walk out against the government.

On the instructions of the speaker, Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) Muzaffar Saeed and Minister for Information Mushtaq Ghani tried to convince the opposition leaders but they refused to come back in.

Oppostion leader Lutfur Rehman said that the leaders of the government have done contempt of the parliament and that the opposition did not have the freedom to speak unlike the government. He further said that he alongwith his party members have boycotted talks with the government.

Pakistan Muslim League –Nawaz (PML-N) member of the parliament Sardar Aurengeb Nolatha said that the PTI wanted to govern the parliament as they were governing D Chowk Islamabad and that the party would not be allowed to do so.

He urged the government to better its behaviour with the oppostion. He said that the situation would only worsen in case the government did not apologise for its behaviour.

The session again started after ten minutes break but due to the oppostion leaders’ walk out, the session was adjourned until tomorrow 2pm.
