The Interior Minister met a delegation headed by US Special Envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk / Agencies) – Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Wednesday stated that drone attacks are a complicated issue in Pak-US ties, Dunya News reported.

"The United States should halt drone attacks in Pakistan once and for all," Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said during a meeting with US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Daniel Feldman.

"The six months break in US drone attacks in Pakistan improved the relationship between the two countries and it was appreciated by all the segments of the society," he said.

The Interior Minister further stated that "we should concentrate on the positives of our relationships and differences should be addressed. It is very important that United States understands Pakistan s point of view."

On the occasion, the US envoy said there is much better understanding between the two countries. He also appreciated Pakistan`s efforts in war against terrorism.

The United States had halted drone strikes in Pakistan for the first six months of 2014 while the Pakistani government engaged in ultimately fruitless peace talks with the Taliban insurgency.

But the strikes restarted on June 11, just four days before the military announced an anti-Taliban offensive in the remote region of North Waziristan along the Afghan border.

The government routinely publicly protests the strikes as an infringement of its national sovereignty. But former President Pervez Musharraf admitted strikes during his term were approved.
