Sindh govt bans pillion riding from 8th to 10th Muharram in Karachi, other cities

The ban has been imposed to ensure law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram.

KARACHI (Web Desk) The Government of Sindh on Wednesday issued a notification regarding a three-day ban on pillion riding in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Kkhairpur and Sanghar to ensure law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram.

Talking to Dunya News, Sindh’s Interior Secretary Dr Niaz Abbasi said that women, children, law enforcement officials and journalists will be exempted from ban on pillion riding.

He said that permits to carry weapons during Muharram have also been cancelled and police have been strictly directed to ensure its implementation.

In Lahore, pillion riding will be banned on 9th and 10th Muharram while section 144 will be imposed as well.

Earlier, Pak Army, Rangers and Capital Police started a flag march from Sports Complex in Islamabad to show preparedness for maintaining peace during Muharram.

SSP Operations, SPs of four zones, SDPOs and SHOs of four police stations also participated in the flag march.
