KARACHI (Dunya News) – Former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday said that can foresee a regime change in the country without the reelections, Dunya News reported.

Addressing on the occasion of foundation day of his party All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), former president said he doesn’t see the country going towards a reelection but he also foresees a regime change.

Musharraf said he is with those who are working for the improvement of the country. He said he would even support Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif if he brings prosperity in the country.

He said his concerns and doubts were realized because there is no change in the system after 2013 election.

Former president said that the lack of development despite abundance of resources in the country is regrettable.

He said it is unfortunate that the country is experiencing the same old pattern including the electricity, gas and water crises. He said the country’s economy is progressing towards destruction.

Siding with the parties staging sit-in protests in Islamabad, Musharraf said that the sit-in protesters are on the path of truth because there is truth in what they’re saying. He said his sympathies are with the protesters.

Musharraf emphasized the need of ‘political change’ in the country, saying that he always thought for Pakistan only and not for himself. He said he came back to Pakistan only because he was extremely concerned about the situation in the country.

Former president said that he fought for the country and yet he is being tried under Article 6. He said he gave ‘prosperity’ to the people and yet he is being tried for high treason.

Musharraf said that he is declared ineligible to contest elections for life, contesting that it is unconstitutional.

He said he had decided to face the cases after coming back to Pakistan, hoping that he will get ‘justice’.

Former president said that he wants to work as a common Pakistani to bring ‘change’ in the country. He said party will not have real life until he himself leads it.

He said there’s a dire need to create a third political force in the country, adding that it’s critically important also for the electoral reforms. Musharraf said that he wishes to bring a system that would work for Pakistan’s development.
