Asset details: ECP deadline expires today

Membership of MPs could be suspended on October 15 if they failed to submit asset details to ECP.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Election Commission of Pakistan s (ECP) deadline for parliamentarians to submit details of their assets expires today (Tuesday), Dunya News reported.

So far, 414 out of 1174 members of the National Assembly, Senate and provincial assemblies have submitted details of their assets to the Election Commission of Pakistan.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah, Interior Minister and other prominent politicians have still not submitted their asset details.

The ECP said that total details of the assets received are 414 in which 56 are from Senate, 170 National Assembly, 75 Punjab Assembly, 59 Sindh Assembly, 36 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 18 members of Balochistan Assembly have submitted their asset details. 

All members of the Senate, National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies of the Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Paktunkhwa and Balochistan are required to submit yearly statements of assets and liabilities of their own, their spouses and dependents in the Election Commission Secretariat by September 30, 2014.

The prescribed forms are available, free of cost, from the Election Commission Secretariat, Islamabad and offices of Provincial Election Commissioners in each Province.

 The Election Commission will upload details of MPs  assets on its website after October 15.
