Senate passes resolution against PM's resignation, dissolution of assemblies

Resolution states to ensure supremacy of law and autonomy of the parliament must be ensured.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Following the National Assembly, the Senate too has passed a resolution against Prime Minister’s resignation and dissolution of assemblies.

Senator Mushahidullah mocked that a Mustafa Qureshi film plays at the sit-in every day, the 62-year old bowler cannot bowled anyone whereas Senator Tahir Mashhadi said that the acceptance of the protestors’ demands would spawn dangerous situation. All the matters must be resolved through dialogues.

The session of the Senate was presided over by Chairman Senate Hussain Bukhari. The resolution against PM’s resignation and dissolution of assemblies was presented by Senator Saeed Ghani of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) which was unanimously accepted.

It has been stated in the resolution that the supremacy of law and autonomy of the parliament must be ensured.

Earlier Senator Farhatullah Baber had submitted an adjournment motion against the March in Red Zone which had been accepted by the house. Babar further said that it has been for the very first time that the elected representatives of the parliament have been stopped from entering the parliament. If the politics of sit-ins be accepted, the protesters may demand to occupy the nuclear assets.
