PM Nawaz Sharif shouldn't resign from office: Fazlur Rehman
All opposition party leaders speak against PTI and PAT in the National Assembly session.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) –Government and opposition parties were united against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in the session of National Assembly on Wednesday in Islamabad, Dunya News reported. Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) has decided to move a privilege motion against Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri. Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUIF) said that if we begin with our sit-in protests everybody will forget protesting.
These protests are temporary display of upheaval and will disappear like smoke in no time, said Maulana.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai of Pukhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party said that in the Federal Capital nobody will be allowed to create a drama.
National Assembly session presided by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq was delayed for one hour as assembly members couldn t reach the parliament due to the sit-in protest outside staged by Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri. The current political situation was discussed instead of the usual proceedings in the session.
Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN)’s Riaz Peerzada announced passing a privilege motion against Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri. He argued that both leaders have abused political leaders and parliament. Pukhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP)’s Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that he is not afraid of threats, adding that they do not follow a public parliament but only an elected parliament. He stressed that the forced entrance into the red zone of Islamabad is violation of parliament and constitution. We would lead rallies of hundreds of people and will show how democracy can be safeguarded, he said. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif must not resign from the government till our fight continues, said Achakzai.
Emphasizing the importance of the session of the parliament, he said that it must continue. Nawaz Sharif is heading the entire parliament not just one person, he added. Club-wielders who were earlier violating parliament and constitution have now crossed into the parliament, said Achakzai.
Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM)’s Abdul Rashid Godil said that those who call the parliament fake should give in their resignations. They are responsible for the sense of shudder spread across the country, he added.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’ s Aijaz Jhakrani said that Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri have the same director and producer who have apparently outlined their script.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that all those who have struggled for the continuation of democracy in Pakistan stand united to safeguard it from the violators. Prime Minister should clearly announce that he will not resign, said Mualana. He said that legislation must be passed in Islamabad so that never in future a political drama like this can be created. If they try to create uproar and forcefully overthrow the government by any chance, we won’t let their government function in their ruling period for a single day, he said. He stressed that democracy would not be derailed and they will continue their fight for its safeguard.
He said that the PTI leadership wants to cause unrest in the country by dissolving the KPK assembly. We have submitted the adjournment motion and hence, the assembly will remain intact. The session of National Assembly was adjourned till tomorrow morning 11 pm.
Following Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri’s sit-in protest outside parliament, the National Assembly session had been delayed on Wednesday morning. The National Assembly session was due to be held at 10 AM, however, because the members of National Assembly could not reach the Parliament House, the session of National Assembly was delayed. Carrying cameras inside the Parliament House was banned.
The entrance to the Parliament House was not acceptable to the assembly members as tens of thousands of protesters led by ex-cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan and a populist cleric Tahirul Qadri have staged sit-in outside the Parliament House on Wednesday in a bid to depose the prime minister, bringing a week-long political drama to a head. Therefore, the route from the Cabinet Division was being taken instead.
AFP reported that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Tahir-ul-Qadri claim last year s general election was rigged and have demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif s resignation.
Their five-day protest rally in Islamabad, and the two-day "long marches" from the eastern city of Lahore that preceded it, have piled pressure on the government little more than a year since its landslide victory.
The government had ordered them not to enter the capital s "red zone", which houses key buildings including parliament, the prime minister s house and numerous Western embassies.
But Khan and Qadri defied the call and soon after midnight on Wednesday thousands of their supporters entered the high-security red zone, using cranes to remove shipping containers put in place to seal the area.
