PAT workers remove containers, beat up policemen; Police retaliates

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – A violent clash between Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers and the Punjab Police has broken out in Model Town, Lahore. PAT workers, carrying sticks in their hands, came on roads this (Friday) evening and tried to remove the containers. They beat up some police officers with sticks.

Retaliating to this move, Punjab Police has now started to move closer to Minhajul Quran International (MQI) Secretariat. Police is using rubber bullets and sticks to disperse the PAT workers.

While the PAT workers are throwing stones at the police, the police is using tear-gas shells in order to disperse the PAT workers.

On the other hand, PAT workers have attacked and torched a Police Station in Quiadabad area of Khushab. Policemen fled the police station when the PAT workers attacked it.

Earlier, PAT Chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri had said during a press conference that hurdles and barriers could not stop the revolution.

Later in the evening, PAT workers came on to the roads carrying sticks in their hands to remove the containers. These workers were wearing gas-masks on their faces to avoid the effect of gas-shelling.

In a latest news, female workers of PAT have also prepared to counter the police attack. They have been deployed outside the MQI Secretariat in order to guard Tahirul Qadri s residence. The women are carrying sticks in their hands to respond to a possible police attack.

Police has arrested 2 PAT workers.
