97 more patients reported in public hospitals in Multan.

MULTAN (Dunya News) – Multan witnesses an increase in Gastro patients. 97 more patients were admitted to hospitals on Saturday, Dunya News reported. Patients continue to suffer from gastro and many cases have been dealt by different government hospitals due to the negligence of health ministry and sale of substandard beverages. 173 patients were brought to Nishtar Hospital Children Complex and Civil Hospital whereas 97 of them were admitted due to their critical condition. Seventy patients were discharged after treatment.
In the month of Ramazan, the hospitals have been inundated with patients having dehydration and stomach troubles. Doctors had therefore advised the locals to take precautionary measures during Sehar and Aftar timings. According to the doctors, drinking boiled or filtered water and avoiding junk prior Sehar and post Aftar was preferred as the food items available in the market are all substandard and do not assure quality. All the vegetables and fruits should only be eaten after being thoroughly washed.
Gastro causes dehydration and therefore, it is necessary to intake a lot of purified water and fluid in order to compensate the loss of water content through vomiting and diarrhea.
Gastroenteritis is a food or water-borne disease caused by ingesting contaminated food or beverages. The symptoms of include vomiting, fever and diarrhea that leads to dehydration and low blood pressure.
A general precautionary measure that must be considered is to wash hands before eating anything.
