ECNEC approves 2 projects worth Rs 172 billion

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved two mega projects worth one hundred seventy-two billion rupees.

A meeting the ECNEC was held here on Friday under the chair of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

The meeting approved construction of marine related infrastructure for 6,600 MW Pakistan Power Park project at Gaddani, Balochistan at a total cost of 146.60 billion rupees. It will be completed in 42 months.

It also approved Greater Karachi Water Supply Scheme K-IV (Phase I). Under the scheme, 260 million gallons of water daily will be supplied from the east bank of Keenjhar Lake in District Thatta to Karachi with the total cost of 25.5 billion rupees.

The cost will be shared 50/50 proportion by the Federal Government and the Government of Sindh as directed by the Prime Minister.

Dar said during his recent visit to Karachi, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced this important project for the citizens of Karachi.
