Decide the venue: Qadri; Parliament is the venue, reach there first: Khawaja Saad Rafique

LAHORE: (Dunya News) Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri has challenged the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz sharif to an open debate. Dr. Tahirul Qadri has challenged Nawaz Sharif to discuss the governance affairs with him anywhere he would like to. He said that it would be better for Nawaz Sharif to decide the venue and date of the debate before the ‘day of revolution’ so that it gets easier for him to find a respectable way out of the government.

Dr. Qadri was talking to a press conference held at Minhajul Quran Internation (MQI) Secretariat in Model Town, Lahore today (Friday). Tahirul Qadri has laid down twenty points for the debate. The 20 points include interior and foreign affairs, accountability, electoral system and privatization policy. Tahirul Qadri has also challenged Nawaz Sharif to debate the way of staff recruitment in national institutions.

He said that it will be much better for the government to decide a date and venue as it is clearly a more dignified way of leaving the government. The other option will be of revolution which will not only make them lose the government but also their dignity, said Tahirul Qadri.

Dr. Qadri ruled out the possibility of a debate with any other member or group of members from Pakistan Muslim League (N). “I will only debate Nawaz Sharif”, said Tahirul Qadri. He said that there is no other demand in the revolution other than expulsion of the government. “We just want the government to leave the people to their fate”, said Dr. Qadri.

Tahirul Qadri also criticized the government heavily and said that he is not at all satisfied with Nawaz Sharif’s style of governance and also that Nawaz Sharif’s privatization policy is not in line with the international standards of privatization. “Accountability is a major issue in their governance and their privatization policy is also prone to corruption”, added Qadri.

Khawaja Saad Rafique of PML-N was swift in his response to Dr. Tahirul Qadri’s challenge. “Venue is Parliament”, said Saad Rafique. “We urge Dr. Tahirul Qadri to reach the Parliament House by getting elected through public vote and discuss the matters of public concern there”, Khawaja saad Rafique added. Parliament is the supreme institution of the country and the only legitimate forum where decisions about the government and its policies can be made or discussed, said the senior member of PML (N) from Lahore.
