Karkey rental power case: NAB presents final reference in court

Karkey was one of 12 rental power companies that were awarded contracts in 2009.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a reference in the accountability court in the Karkey rental power case today (Thursday), Dunya News reported.

Accountability court judge Mohammad Bashir heard the rental power reference against ex-PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.

During the case proceeding, the accountability bureau presented a reference against the ship-mounted Turkish power project, Karkey.

Ex-PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s counsel Amjad Qureshi was also present in the court.

The court questioned the absence of Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.

On this, Amjad Qureshi told court that no summon notice was received in this regard. Ashraf would appear in the case whenever the court summons him.

Meanwhile, the court directed to provide copies of the reference to all the accused including Raja Peraiz Ashraf and them to appear on September 1 to record their statements.

The court also reserved its decision on Piran Ghayab and Sahuwal rental power references till July 21.

Hearing of the references has been adjourned till September 2.
