Sindh Assembly passes condemnation resolution against MNA Tahira Asif's murder

Tahira Asif succumbed to injuries at hospital in Lahore on Thursday night.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Assembly on Friday unanimously passed a resolution condemning murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Tahira Asif. The session started with speaker Agha Siraj Durrani in the chair.

MQM members attended the session wearing black ribbon and protested against the incident. The MQM members also staged walkout from the House to protest the killing of their party member.

The law makers offered Fateha (prayer) for the departed souls of Tahira Asif, Nasrullah Shajih and those who passed away in Sehwan.

MQM s Khawaja Izharul Hassan presented a resolution against the killing of MNA Tahira Asif in Lahore.

Criticising the Punjab government on this occasion Khawaja Izharul Hassan said how the system can be justified as democratic where mothers and sisters were falling prey to bullets. He termed killing of Tahira Asif as a barbaric act.
Izhar said that Tahira Asif was a brave daughter of Punjab.

Addressing the House, MQM’s Muhammad Hussain said that Punjab government turned a cold shoulder to the killing of Tahira Asif.

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon demanded of the Punjab government to bring the culprits to book.
PML-N s Irfanullah Marwat said that blaming anyone without concrete evidence was wrong.

The House unanimously passed the resolution condemning the murder of Tahira Asif.

After staging walkout, MQM’s lawmakers also held protest outside the Sindh Assembly building.

MQM s MNA Tahira Asif was attacked by unknown gunmen in Lahore s Allama Iqbal Town on Wednesday. She was immediately shifted to Sheikh Zaid Hospital for treatment. According to doctors, four bullets pierced her body and she was on ventilator after the surgery.

Tahira could not recover and succumbed to her injuries on Thursday night. She is survived by her husband, two sons and one daughter.
