Six including two women killed as PAT workers clash with police in Lahore

Agitated PAT workers clashed with police for removing barricades from outside Tahirul Qadri's house.

LAHORE  (Web Desk) - At least six people including two women were killed during violent clash between police and Pakistan Awami Tehreek PAT) workers on Tuesday, Dunya News reported.

The clash began last night when supporters of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) tried to stop police from removing hurdles outside their leader’s house in Lahore’s Model Town area. 

Early morning, roads in various areas turned into battle field when police resorted to aerial firing and tear gas shelling to disperse the protestors. 

The situation turned worse when protestors began to hurl rocks at them. Sources told that straight shots were fired by elite force personnel.

More than fifty people including 11 police personnel have been injured in the incident. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals. 

Earlier, the protesters blocked Metro Bus at Ravi Toll Plaza and Chongi Amar Sadhu where citizens were facing problem due to traffic jam. A large number of police force reached the scene.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Awami Tehreek workers thronged Faizabad and staged sit-in by blocking Rawalpindi-Islamabad Expressway. A large number of women also participated in the protest while traffic from Rawalpindi to Lahore also blocked.

In Faisalabad, the workers rushed to District Council Chowk and blocked Millat Chowk and Narwala Chowk. The angry PAT workers held protest outside Bahawalpur Press Club. They staged sit-in and blocked traffic while workers in Layyah also held protest and blocked traffic at Multan-Mianwali Road.

The Awaim Tehreek workers in Bhakkar also held protest to express solidarity with their party chief. The protesters blocked Mianwali-Rawalpindi Road.
