ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Most ballot papers of NA 154 constituency were found ruined with termite infestation after returning officers sent them for thumb impressions verification to National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA) upon Supreme Court’s orders, Dunya News reported.
According to Dunya News investigations, the bags that were sent from Lodhran were termite infestation. Most of the ballots are therefore unidentifiable. The investigation reveals that the ruined ballots can’t be read by the machine anymore.
An independent candidate Mohammad Siddiqui Khan had defeated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Jehangir Tareen by a ten thousand vote margin. Following which, Tareen had challenged the election results and election tribunal had ordered the thumb impression verification.
As a stay order was obtained against the tribunal’s decision, Jehangir had challenged the stay in Supreme Court and Supreme Court had ordered the returning officers to send all voters record to NADRA.
Obeying the apex court’s ruling, the ballot bags were sent to the authorities.
