Affective laws needed to protect minorities' rights: CJP

Meeting of National Judicial Policy Making Committee is taking place at SC's Lahore Registry.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Chief Justice of Supreme Court, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani stressed the need for framing effective laws to protect minorities’ rights, Dunya News reported.

He was addressing a meeting of National Judicial Policy Making Committee in Lahore today (Saturday).

Chief Justices of High Courts, Federal Shariat Court, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court are attending the event.

On the occasion, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani said the role of judiciary is very important in safeguarding basic human rights of the people.

He said 2014 should be declared year for promoting culture of tolerance and religious harmony in the country.

The Chief Justice said recommendations of the International Judicial Conference will also be reviewed in this regard.
