Efforts would be made to convince Taliban to announce complete ceasefire, the TTP negotiator said.

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Member of Taliban talks committee Professor Ibrahim has said that reservations of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) need to be addressed, Dunya News reported on Friday.

Talking to media in Peshawar, Professor Ibrahim said that main reservation is regarding Taliban prisoners’ torture in custody.

“We are also trying to get extension in ceasefire” he said.

Professor Ibrahim said that negotiators from the government and the Tehreek-e-Taliban will meet on Saturday.

Ealier, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan rejected TTP’s claims that the government is not serious in pursuing peace talks with the banned group.

The militant group, which called off its ceasefire yesterday, blamed the government saying it is not serious about talks.

Official sources quoted the minister as saying that the government has removed all blocks on the road to dialogue with sincerity and strong resolve.

"If the government was not serious, why would its team travel to South Waziristan," he said.

He said that if the Taliban has any issues, they should be discussed and thrashed out on the negotiating table. He said the government also had its own set of issues and concerns.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif s government had begun negotiations with the Taliban through intermediaries in February to try to end the cycle of violence that has claimed over 40,000 lives.
