Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has convened the federal cabinet today (Friday).

ISLAMABAD (Online): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has convened the federal cabinet meeting today (Friday) reportedly to endorse proposals finalized by the National Security Committee.

According to reports, the cabinet is likely to approve Islamabad’s agreement with Tehran on electricity import, draft of a bill curbing cyber crimes, besides reviewing national security situation.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who presided over a significant meeting of Federal Cabinet’s National Security Committee, is visiting Iran next month where he will sign the power import agreement between the two neighboring countries.

Earlier on Thursday, the security committee discussed several crucial issues including peace dialogues with Taliban, truce with the militants and release of Taliban prisoners, besides discussing Pak-Afghan security situation in the wake of US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Rashid Mahmood, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI) Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam and Director General Intelligence Bureau (DG IB) Aftab Sultan were also attending the meeting.

Secretary Defence Lt. Gen. Asif Yaseen, Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security Sartaj Aziz, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan were also present in the meeting.
