Poverty-stricken mother kills 2 daughters, attempts suicide
The woman faces double homicide, attempted-suicide charges.
LAYYAH (Dunya News) – A poverty-stricken mother killed two daughters by poisoning them. The woman attempted to commit suicide afterwards but was rescued, Dunya News reported.
Poverty has ruined yet another family as a local mother took lives of two young daughters. The tragic incident took place in Ada Riazabad area of Layyah where a woman named Bilquees poisoned to death her two daughters; Muqaddas aged 4 and Ishrat aged 2.
The woman reportedly attempted suicide but was rescued.
Cases have been registered against the woman at Kot Sultan police station booking her for double homicide and attempted suicide.
The woman is being treated at a local hospital. She said that her husband was alcoholic and forced her for prostitution; which forced her to take the extreme measure.
A similar incident took place in Lahore earlier this month when a mother – claiming to be sick and tired of poverty – had taken lives of her two children by strangling one and drowning the other.
The homicidal mother claims she couldn’t see her children in the misery and took the extreme step.
The resident of Johar Town area of Lahore also complained of domestic fights of being one of the reasons behind the tragic double-murder.
