Privilege motion against Imran Khan passed in Senate

Around 26 Senators signed the privilege motion against the PTI chief.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Senate has passed privileged motion against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan over his remarks against the parliamentarians.

The PTI chief had accused that most of the parliamentarians sell themselves for gaining interest.

At least 26 Senators from all political parties have signed the motion against Imran Khan.

Deputy Chairman Senate Sabir Baloch chaired the session on Monday.

Reaction over the statement of Imran Khan, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Saeed Ghani said the PTI chief has exposed himself and if he had any proof he should have provided it to the election commission. 

Senator Zahid Khan of Awami National Party (ANP) said that Imran Khan has insulted Senators.

Senator Abdul Hayee said Maulana Imran Khan had become crazy. He said only those persons discuss dollar who themselves were a salable commodity.

Senator Kulsoom Parveen said Imran Khan should check his party’s performance in Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa instead of criticizing others.

Meanwhile, The Senators of opposition expressed annoyance over withdrawing the security of Chairman Senate Nayyar Hussain Bukhari.

Deputy Chairman Sabir Baloch in his ruling said it was a high profile matter and he sent the issue to the privilege committee.

Moreover, journalists staged walkout from the press gallery of the Senate over threatening a fellow journalist by MQM’s Senator Rashid Gordel however they returned after MQM Senator Nasreen Jalil’s assurance of seeking explanation from Rashid Godel.
