Musharraf suffers from 9 conditions: Dunya News obtains medical report
Medical report says Musharraf's left arteries are blocked and shoulder isn't working properly.
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) - According to medical report submitted to the court today, former president Pervez Musharraf suffers from at least nine medical conditions, Dunya News reported.
As per the medical report, first obtained by Dunya News, Musharraf s left arteries are blocked and his left shoulder isn t working properly. Report also says Musharraf suffers from problems in left knee and spinal cord.
Former president also suffers from hyper-tension, the report says.
The report was submitted to the special court hearing Pervez Musharraf s treason trial in a sealed envelope earlier today. Court is due to rule on this matter on January 9.
Earlier today, the court had adjourned the hearing until Wednesday to allow time to assess the doctors report and said defense and prosecution teams would receive copies.
Judge Faisal Arab, who heads the three-member bench, told the court Tuesday: "We will give an opportunity to both sides to examine (the report) and then we will decide accordingly."
Ahmad Raza Kasuri, a lawyer for Musharraf, told reporters that owing to the complexity of the medical issues the matter could only be debated once both sides had been given time to assess the report.
According to sources, the medical report revealed that three valves of Musharraf’s heart are blocked while he is suffering from kidney disease as well.
The medical report was prepared by senior doctors of the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC).
It is pertinent to mention here that the special court had demanded a report on Musharraf s health condition to explain his continued absence from proceedings.
The 70-year-old former president was rushed to a military hospital on Thursday after falling ill while being taken to hear treason charges against him at the tribunal in Islamabad. Musharraf s camp says the treason allegations, which relate to his imposition of emergency rule in November 2007, are politically motivated and his lawyers have challenged the authority of the tribunal.
