Rangers can keep a suspect in custody for 90 days for interrogation, shoot criminals on resistance.

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Government of Sind has issued a notification granting special powers to the Rangers. 

Notification has been issued in the light of the Pakistan Protection Ordinance approved by the National Assembly.

According to the notification, Rangers have been authorized to arrest a suspect and keep him in custody for 90 days for investigation purpose.

Rangers will also have the authority to shoot the criminals on resistance.

Rangers are currently conducting a targeted operation in Karachi against the target killers, extortionists and other criminal elements.

Rangers have so far killed and arrested many criminals.

MQM has expressed reservations about the impartiality of the operation but Sindh government has said that the operation would be continue till the elimination of the criminals.
