Asma to receive Roland Berger Human Dignity Award

Award has been given to three women rights activists from Pakistan, India and Afghanistan.

 

BERLIN (Online) - Prominent lawyer and HR activist Asma Jahangir will receive the International Roland Berger Human Dignity Award on Tuesday in a ceremony being organized by the Roland Berger Foundation in Berlin.


This year, the award, which is also endowed with Euro one million, has been given to three outstanding individuals and organizations that have been committed to women’s rights in Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan.


President of the German Parliament, Dr. Lammert will present award to Asma Jahangir along with other two recipients from India and Afghanistan in a ceremony, which is likely to be attended by 400 guests including German parliamentarians, diplomats, human rights activists, educationists and representatives of various national and international organizations.


It will be telecast live by German TV Channel, Phoenix.


The Foundation was established in March, 2008 in Munich by Prof. Dr. h.C. Roland Berger, who donated the initial foundation capital of Euro 50 million.
