No threat from Qadris march: Punjab governor

Makhdoom Ahmad Mehmood says the government does not feel any threat from Tahirul Qadris long march.

 

KARACHI: Talking to newsmen at Karachi airport on Friday, Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmad Mehmood said he was not taking Tahirul Qadri as serious threat.


He said that all political parties have the consensus that the general elections should be held on time and the country was going to experience democracy after the completion of the tenure of democratic government.


“All political parties should join hands against the forces who want to derail democracy from the country”, Makhdoom stressed.


Meanwhile, Punjab Governor Makhdoom Syed Ahmed Mahmud called on President Asif Ali Zardari. They discussed overall political situation in the country and Punjab Province.


Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also present during the meeting.


Congratulating Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmud on the assumption of the office of the Governor‚ the President hoped the people and the Punjab Province would greatly benefit from his abilities and acumen.


The Governor assured that he will do his best for the welfare of people‚ strengthening of political and State institutions in the Province.
