LHC declares shisha cafes 'illegal'

Shisha cafes across city declared ‘illegal’ by Lahore High Court.

 

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday directed the authorities to continue crackdown on Shisha (hookah) Cafes and declared that cigarette smoking cannot be banned completely across the country, Dunya News reported.

 

Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Umer Ata Bandyal completed hearing of petitions pertaining to shisha cafes and cigarette smoking in public.

 

Counsel for shisha cafe owners told court that provincial government was taking coercive measures against the cafes, badly damaging their business.

 

In response, shisha cafe owners were directed to challenge the Drug Act.
