146 people killed, dozens of robberies reported in six months in Lahore

LAHORE (Daily Dunya) – The criminal activities have continued to persist in the provincial capital Lahore despite consistent change in the policies designated by police department to tackle such crimes.

According to the statistics received by Daily Dunya, 146 people have been killed over different issues in the first six months of the current year in Lahore while as many as 1213 incidents of robbery and dacoity have been recorded so far.

Two cases of car stealing and 159 cases of motorcycle grabbing were reported while 260 cases of car theft and 1733 cases of motorcycle theft were also filed by the security officers.

38 people were killed in city division, 32 in Cantt division, 29 in Sadar division, 19 in Model Town division, 16 in Iqbal Town division while 12 people lost their lives in Civil Lines division.

Talking about the score of robberies in the metropolis, 239 robberies occurred in Sadar division, 227 in city division, 178 in Civil Lines division, 217 in Cantt division, 192 in Iqbal Town division whereas 160 dacoities took place in Model Town division.

Different cases of car and motorcycle thefts and other major and minor burglaries were also registered at various police stations in the city.

3891 cases pertaining to heinous crimes were lodged in six months whereas 5027 were registered from January to June last year.

The statistics have shown that 23 percent decrease in crimes has been observed this year however, police personnel are also trying hard to form their strategies by keeping in view the scenario.
