Kieron Pollard hits two sixes of the last two balls to gave his side a crucial win over Lahore

DUBAI (Dunya News) – Karachi Kings defeat Lahore Qalandars by five wickets in a nail-biting thriller as Kieron Pollard two huge sixes of the last two balls to snatch the match from Qalandars’ hands.

Batting first, Lahore Qalandars scored 155 for the loss of six wickets Muhammad Rizwan 32 not out the skipper 31 were the top scorers.

In reply, Karachi Kings chased the target on the last ball as Pollard hit two consecutive sixes to finish off things in style. Pollard scored unbelievable 45 not out of just 20 balls.

In the most crucial encounter at Dubai Sports City, it’s the Karachi Kings that will face Lahore Qalandars in a match that will most likely decide the team moving ahead for play-offs.

Earlier, Karachi Kings won the toss and they elected to field first in a crucial play-off decider.

For Lahore Qalandars, Irfan came in for Ghulam Mudassar while Chris Gayle was replaced for Mahela Jayawardene in Karachi Kings squad.

Overs 20 I Score 102/1 I Imad Wasim 11*, Shoaib Malik 5*

In the last 5 overs, Karachi Kings needed 54 runs of 30 balls as Imad and Shoaib were on the crease. Karachi Kings got into trouble as Shoaib Malik departed after a direct hit from Aamir Yamen dislodges the stumps while the batsman was way back from the crease. Imad thumped one away for four more of the last ball of Narine.

Lahore Qalandars’ bowlers came back strongly after the half-way stage as Narine removed the skipper in the twelfth while he was caught by Aamir Yameen after scoring twenty runs. In the next over, Babar Azam also departed as he failed to complete his half-century. Babar Azam was caught by Umar Akmal of the bowling of Fakhar Zaman who bowled a brilliant over as he conceded just 3 runs and taking a crucial wicket.

Unlucky for Karachi Kings as Ravi Bopara got run out in the next over after scoring just 2 runs. The skipper came into ball in the fifteenth over as he was smashed for four more by Imad of the very first ball. Moreover, Imad also pummeled one away for a huge six of the last ball of the fifteenth over.
The skipper went away for 13 runs in the fifteenth over.

Yasir Shah came into ball in the sixth over as Babar Azam thumped him on the second ball while fetching four runs in the process, however Shah came back strongly as only 6 runs came in the over. Narine bowled a brilliant next over while conceding just four runs in the over. Yasir Shah also bowled well in the next over as he conceded just 5 runs in Yasir Shah’s over.

Babar Azam showed his class in the tenth over as he hit exceptional shots in Elliott’s over while fetching 14 runs from tenth over of the innings. Babar Azam played excellent cricketing shots in the tenth over while hitting three classic boundaries in the over. At half-way stage, Karachi Kings were 72 for the loss of one wicket.

The exceptional Babar and Mahela Jayawardene started off the proceedings for Karachi Kings as Babar Azam took the charge in the second over and hitting Aamir Yameen for two boundaries in the second over of the innings. Babar Azam also pummeled one away for four more of the first ball of Sohail Tanvir’s first over, however his team had to suffer a loss in the shape of Jayawardene run out on the last ball of the third over.

Narine bowled brilliantly as he conceded just four runs in the fourth over of the innings. Aamir Yameen also bowled a good over while going away for just four runs in the fifth over. After five overs, the Kings were 35 for the loss of one wicket.

Muhammad Amir came into ball in the sixteenth over and mixed-up the deliveries brilliantly while conceding just 6 runs in the over. Shoaib Malik went away for 9 runs as he bowled the 17th over. Sohail Khan didn’t impress in the depth overs as he went away for quite a few runs while conceding a six of the first and a boundary of the last ball while going for 14 runs in the eighteenth over. Muhammad Rizwan is playing really well in the depth overs so far.

Meanwhile, Sohail Tanvir also showed some aggression as hot two wonderful shots for consecutive boundaries in the penultimate over of the innings from Muhammad Amir. A total of 13 runs came of the penultimate over by Muhammad Amir.
The youngster Usman Khan came into ball in the last over of the innings as Rizwan played a yorker with reverse bat for four more of the third ball. Ten runs came of the last over.

Just when the promising Fakhar Zaman seemed to be in good touch, Sohail Khan provided a breakthrough to Kings as Zaman was caught at backward point by Imad Wasim in the sixth over. McCullum pummeled one away towards point in the sixth over of the bowling of Usman Khan. In the very next of Usama Mir, Umar Akmal hits a classy shot for maximum towards extra cover. In the same over, the skipper also took the charge as he thumped the young spinner for two consecutive boundaries.

After being asked to bat first at Dubai Sports City, the Qalandars had to suffer an early loss as CS Delport was removed in the very first over by Muhammad Amir and was caught behind by the skipper. In the second over, Fakhar Zaman took the charge in second over as he thumped a sweep-shot towards deep-midwicket boundary and fetched six runs in the process of doing so.

On the last ball of the third over, the skipper pummeled one away from Amir towards short third man for four more. In the fourth over bowled by Sohail Khan, Fakhar Zaman played a shot brilliantly as he finds the gap between backward point and cover point and registered four runs in the process. In the same over, Fakhar Zaman scored another boundary as he thumped one away towards cover point for four more.

McCullum pummeled one away towards mid-wicket as the ball reaches the fence after one bounce. After 5 overs, Lahore Qalandars were 40 for the loss of one wicket.
