Australia thrash India by 333 runs in first Test

PUNE (Dunya News) – Australia have thrashed India by 333 runs in first Test at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium and ended the 19-match unbeaten streak of home side on Saturday.

Australia scored 260 runs in their first innings after winning the toss and electing to bat first against the hosts, India. Matt Renshaw and Mitchell Starc scored 68 and 61 runs respectively to help Australia get this total. India’s Umesh Yadav picked up four wickets.

In reply, India struggled in their first innings and were all out for just 105 runs. Lokesh Rahul was the only Indian batsman to have made a decent contribution with 64 runs. Eight Indian players could not even enter the double figures and skipper Virat Kohli went for a duck. From Australia, Steve O Keefe picked up six wickets.

In second innings, Australia scored 285 runs and gave India a target of 441 runs. Captain Steven Smith led from the front and scored a ton (109). From India, Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed four Aussies.

Chasing down a gigantic target of 441 runs, India once again stumbled in second innings and got out on 107 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara was India’s top scorer with 31 runs. Australia’s Steve O Keefe once again picked up six wicket and took his match tally to 12 wickets. He was also declared man of the match.
