LAHORE (Web Desk) - Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today launched an investigation into chief selector Moin Khan s alleged visit to a casino ahead of the team s World Cup clash against the West Indies.

Reports have said that Moin, a former Test captain, had visited a casino on the night of the match against West Indies in which Pakistan were hammered by 150 runs – their worst ever defeat in a World Cup.

Team manager Naveed Akram has started investigation from today (Tuesday), Dunya News reported.

The Pakistan board and team has come under fire after losing its first two matches to fierce rivals India and West Indies and also losing a one-day series in New Zealand. Moin s recent incident has only added fuel to the fire.

Earlier on Monday, PCB chairman Shehryar Khan promised action if required but also assured that Moin Khan would get a fair probe.

"We have launched an investigation over the reports that Moin Khan visited a casino, action will be taken if the reports prove true," Khan told reporters.

"As per initial reports, Moin Khan went there to have a meal two days before the match against the West Indies and a Pakistani couple photographed him and made a video," he said, "But we will not make anybody a scapegoat and will investigate this incident before taking any action."

Pakistan are languishing at the bottom of Pool B after consecutive defeats, prompting cricket fans in the country to hold a mock funeral for the national team.

Pakistan next play Zimbabwe in Brisbane on Sunday.
