Sarwar vows to bolster trade, business

Governor Punjab assures ICC delegation of steps to attract foreign investment.

 

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Ch Muhammad Sarwar has said that he would play a positive role for creation of a business friendly environment to attract more investment and to give boost to trade & industry in the country.

 

Exchanging views with ICCI delegation which called on Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar at Lahore and congratulated him on taking oath as the 35th Governor of the Punjab. The delegation also participated in his oath taking ceremony.

 

Ch Sarwar expressed his pledge to work for the alleviation of poverty, welfare of the masses and provision of health and education as he had done back in the UK as a Member of the British Parliament from 1997-2010, taking pride in the fact that he was the first Pakistani

 

Muslim who took oath on the Holy Quran in the 1000 years old history of the British Parliament. The Governor Punjab said education emergency in the province was the need of the hour to eradicate poverty and expressed his resolve to send one million children to school in order to overcome poverty. He said he would make use of his international connections to spread education in the country.
 

Speaking at the occasion, Zafar Bakhtawari, President, ICCI said that Ch. Sarwar is a self-made successful businessman as well as an experienced professional who has worked in a developed democracy and hoped that he would act as a bridge to promote public-private partnership to improve the economy.

He lauded the government’s decision of appointing Ch. Sarwar as Governor and added that many Overseas Pakistanis have gained valuable professional knowledge and experience by working in advanced economies and government should bring them back by giving them prestigious slots so that they could contribute for the economic development of Pakistan. He said appointment of Ch. Muhammad Sarwar as Governor is the first step in that direction.
