Jury orders baby powder company to pay $110mil over cancer risk
Virginian woman had alleged health products giant of cancer risk in its baby powder, other products
(Web Desk) – A jury in Missouri reportedly ordered Johnson & Johnson to award over $110 million to Lois Slemp who alleged the company of failing to mention risk of cancer in baby powder and other products.
The 62-year-old woman had sued the health products giant after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012. She took legal action against Johnson & Johnson stating their two products, Shower to Shower and baby powder, didn’t warn about cancer risk.
The company has previously lost similar cases in which the court confirmed the party s allegations.
On the other hand, the company said in an official statement that they were preparing for additional trials this year and would continue to defend the safety of their baby powder.
It claimed that there was lack of credible scientific evidence behind such allegations.
