Indian security agencies initiate probe against Dr Zakir Naik after Dhaka cafe attack

DHAKA (Dunya News) – Indian security agencies have initiate a probe against television preacher Dr Zakir Naik after an attack on a Dhaka cafe in which 20 hostages were murdered.

Bangladeshi media has claimed that two of the suspected terrorists involved in the attack were influenced by Dr Zakir Naik.

One of the attackers, 22-year-old Rohan Imtiaz reportedly posted an appeal on Facebook last year urging all Muslims to become terrorists and quoting the controversial Indian preacher who has been banned in Britain, Canada and Malaysia

Son of Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Haseena Wajid also shared a video of the preacher promoting extremism.

Indian extremist wing Shiv Sena protested outside the office of Dr Zakir Naik in Mumbai after which police beefed up the security of the area.

Dr Zakir while rejecting the allegations has said that his statements and speeches have been doctored.

He termed Daesh as anti-Islamic and said that the group is a conspiracy against Muslim.

Dr Zaik is in Saudi Arabia nowadays and will reach India on July 11.

He is likely to be questioned by the Indian authorities after he arrives back in the country.
