(Web Desk) – In a strange case that has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh India, a teenage girl is in critical condition after a sword-wielding man cut off one of her hands allegedly because of a dispute over a mobile phone charger.

The girl has been admitted to the King George Medical College’s hospital Lucknow after also receiving multiple stab wounds at a busy marketplace in Lakheempur district, BBC reported.

The victim’s identity has not been disclosed due to certain reservations of the family. But her uncle, Sushil Kumar Trivedi – who also lodged the FIR of the incident, told BBC that she was attacked while on her way to Sushil’s house along with her mother to get her cell-phone charged.

He said that the girl lives in the city with her younger sister and her blind mother. Her brother was beaten up a few days ago by the same attacker, who had also been stalking her lately, and then was sent off to another city for work by the family. Her father, who is sick, was away at his hometown village at the time of the attack.

According to the witnesses’ records the man catcalled upon her that led to an argument between the two, and then the assault. Later, passers-by overpowered the attacker and handed him over to the police.

Uttar Pradesh police officials said that initial reports suggested the argument started over either a mobile phone charger or sim card. But the police is investigating the matter further as the victim’s family had also registered a complaint about the man stalking her prior to the attack.
