Samsung eyes phone that can read the palm of hand
Samsung says that the technology will not replace the traditional biometric systems.
(Dunya News) - Samsung has filed a patent application for a mobile phone that can read the palm of a person’s hand, potentially leading to a new unique authentication system.
Samsung says that the technology will not replace the traditional biometric systems like fingerprints or face scanners and will only provide password hints to unlock the phone if a person forgets it.
The rear sensor would analyse a user’s hand and determine the complex design of its many lines to authenticate them. Samsung filing does not mention anything beyond providing password hints.
The prototype technology will surpass the security questions which can compromise the password to someone who knows the other person well. It will also be more complex than face identification which can be spoofed with a simple photograph.
