The annoying feature is often seen when Facebook friends allow asking others to try out new apps

(Web Desk) – Facebook has finally decided to end support for its annoying feature of app invites which allows friends to exchange invites and ask to try out various new apps around them.

These app invites erupt out of nowhere like spam emails and often receive skepticism from the receivers. FarmVille, Ludo Star and Bejeweled are some of the popular apps known to annoy friends of the person using them. These apps frequently send notification of app invite to user’s friends, asking them to try the app.

To disable app invites, users had to manually block invites in the Facebook setting regarding a certain app. Also, installing the app also puts an end to such notifications of app invites.

Facebook software engineer Ming Li confirmed in his blog saying, “App Invites will no longer be supported starting with Facebook SDK version 4.28 and above. Previous versions of the SDK can still access App Invites, but starting 2/6, App Invites will no longer be supported.”

“We re continuously evaluating how to best serve our developer community … as a result, some products will sunset in order for us to build new products for our developer community,” he added

He had also shed light on the efforts to reviewed existing product offerings and enhancing the solutions. This is why the app invites feature will fade away with the beginning of February, 2018.

As an alternative, it was previously told that app Invites notifications will now only show up in the recipient s Facebook notifications on mobile platforms and not on desktop web. The step will surely be welcomed happily by annoyed Facebook users.
