'Pokemon Go' banned at government offices in Pakistan
Sources told an official notification has also been issued to stop employees from playing the game.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News / AFP) – Keeping in view the increasing fever of ‘Pokemon Go’ among the people, a ban has been imposed on the game at government offices in Pakistan.
Sources told that a notification has also been issued in which the officers and staffers have been advised to avoid downloading and installation of Pokemon Go by them or their family members.
Threats by the game
The game automatically turns on GPS/camera and possibly records activities of the surroundings.
It also has complete access to the gmail account and can read and modify the emails, locations and contacts.
Due to the massive success and non-availability in Pakistan, many users install this game from unofficial websites.
The game was launched in many Southeast Asian countries in July, 2016, a month after the United States, New Zealand and Australia but the global Pokemon Go craze has prompted a slew of complaints, with official matters and religious sites.
Earlier, Pokemon Go was declared blasphemous and a ban was demanded by an Indian court.
"Those who succeed are rewarded with eggs. Offering eggs to people in temples, even in the virtual world, is highly objectionable and amounts to blasphemy," lawyer Dave told.
Vietnam had also banned players of the game from the offices of its government and ruling Communist Party, besides defense locations, as thousands of its citizens get swept up in the frenzy to capture virtual cartoon characters.
Cambodia also banned the game from a former Khmer Rouge torture center and prison after players showed up at the site, now a genocide museum, hunting for Pokemon characters.
