Pakistan Earthquake: Google launches Person Finder to facilitate rescue
The simple tool lets anyone search or add information about missing persons
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Internet search giant has launched Person Finder tool ( https://google.org/personfinder/2015-south-asia-earthquake/ ) to facilitate search and rescue operations in the wake of massive 8.1 earthquake hitting northern and north western Pakistan, Afghanistan and parts of India.
The simple Person Finder tool lets anyone search or add information about missing persons. If a person is looking for someone missing they can enter their name and the search results will be from the information added specifically for this event. Similarly, if anyone has information on anyone’s whereabouts, they can add it using this tool.
Although Google says it doesn’t verify authenticity of information added, it is evident that technology has helped in previous events like this one, especially during the Nepal earthquake earlier this year.
